Free Golf Instruction

Free golf instruction is available in many areas of the internet.  Check out the following paragraphs to see the type of information that you can find on our site.

Concerning bend at the waist, in “The Forgotten Fundamental” by Peter Kostis in the August, 1985 issue of Golf Digest, he found pros’ average spine angle with driver in hand to be 27 degrees. And with 9-iron in hand, the angle increased to 33 degrees. These are definitely just averages, with much variation.
To help you get your spine angle into the range, notice the angle at which Matt’s arms are hanging and the gap between his hands and his pants fly. To get a feel for this gap, first spread the four fingers of your right hand apart. Then, place the outside edge of your pinky against your pants fly and let the butt end of the whip touch the outside edge of your index finger.

Also, you can place a piece of tape, 27 degrees off vertical, onto a mirror and line your back up with the tape.  So, small bend at the knees, moderate bend at the waist.  One additional positioning to get you to look like Matt is to stick your rear end out, in the behind direction--as if you were backing onto a bar stool.

The ‘Open Sesame’ Quadrella.  Remember on page 51 the size of the gap between Matt’s right hip and arms?
