How to Golf

Learning how to golf can be a frustrating and humbling experience.  Sometimes it’s easiest when you learn from the pros.  The following paragraphs are examples of the type of info you will find in our books and dvd.

Here are six points having to do with addressing the ball. You’ll see what positions Matt is in so that you can get yourself pretty close. Please stand in front of a full-length mirror and get the image in the mirror to look like the images on the following pages, plus the face-on address image on page 10. Soon you’ll be able to stand up to the ball with confidence knowing you look like a Tour pro!

A pro-like address position now will make sense to you, given the understanding you've got of what happens during the motion of hitting a golf ball. If you achieve the positions described here, you'll find the lift 'n coil and flail easier to accomplish.

For most amateurs, moving from a comfortable address position to a pro-like position involves some discomfort, even disorientation. Instructors often have to remind students, time and again, that they've reverted to their old address position. This chapter tries to relate key points of a pro-like address position to the lift 'n coil and flail. Hopefully Swail will make these connections clear and you'll be determined to craft (and not stray from!) an advantageous address position. Enlist your buddy’s help. Can’t say it often enough: ut ter ly relaxed hands, arms, shoulders, neck and abdominal muscles.
